It’s hard to deny that the future of marketing is video. According to a survey done earlier this year by Lemonlight, 94% of respondents shared that watching a video has helped them make a purchase decision at least once. Of those, 72% were swayed by a product demonstration video. Oh, and 98% of marketers believe that video will play an important role in marketing over the coming years—and we definitely agree!

In our experience, which is based on current research, any video is preferable to no video, even if it’s not a super high-quality, professional experience. That means that if you have to choose between a wall of text and a selfie video shot on your iPhone, the latter is more likely to help you reach your audience.

However, if you’re a video novice, getting in front of the camera might make you a little nervous. That’s totally understandable—if you’re not a writer, performer, or social media superstar, it might be hard to figure out exactly what to say. We’ve got your back. Below, we’ve written out five scripts that you can use to promote your business this holiday season—just grab your phone and fill in the brackets to get started. Whether you want to just read them verbatim or put your own spin on them, they’re yours for the taking!

Script #1: A Holiday Promotion

“Hi friends! I just wanted to hop on here and tell you about our newest holiday promotion! For the next [time frame], [product name] is available for only [price]! This is one of my favorite products, and here’s why:

  • [Talking point #1]
  • [Talking point #2]
  • [Talking point #3]

This is such a steal--you won’t want to miss it! Let me know if you have any questions!”

Use When: You have a great holiday promotion that you want to share on social media.

Spice It Up with Interactive Video: Using interactive video? Be sure to add clickable interactions so your audience can click to purchase from within the video. You can even consider adding a way for viewers to contact you if they have any questions!

Script #2: Promote a Purchased Product

“Hi! Thanks for buying [product name]! I wanted to take a few minutes to make sure you get the most out of your purchase. Here are my three favorite things about [product name]:

  • [Talking point #1]
  • [Talking point #2]
  • [Talking point #3]

And it’s so easy to use! Just [use instructions]. I think you’re going to love it! If you have any other questions, please reach out! Happy holidays!”

Use When: Someone has purchased a product for the first time, and you want to check in to make sure they get the most out of it. Send via email, text, or social media.

Spice It Up with Interactive Video: This is a great opportunity to link to tutorials, product sheets, or other supplemental materials.

Script #3: A Holiday Giveaway

“Hey there! I hope you’re all having a wonderful day. This is my favorite time of year for so many reasons, and one of them is because of the spirit of giving that is so prevalent. So, to celebrate that, I want to give away one of my favorite products, [product name]. I love it because...

  • [Talking point #1]
  • [Talking point #2]
  • [Talking point #3]

I can’t wait to give it to one of you! If you’d like to win, leave a comment with your favorite holiday activity. I’ll choose a winner tomorrow night!”

Use When: You have a product you want to give away to celebrate your favorite season (and you want to drum up a little exposure at the same time).

Spice It Up with Interactive Video: If you're using interactive video, add a link to a product page so your viewers can gain a better understanding of what they have to gain by winning your giveaway.

Script #4: A Festive Follow Up

“Hi [Prospect Name]! I hope you’re having a wonderful Christmas so far! I haven’t heard from you in a while, and I wanted to check-in. Have you had a chance to think about [product name] yet? I think you’ll really love it! I know this time of year can be stressful, so you deserve to treat yourself! Let me know if you want to chat! Merry Christmas!”

Use When: It’s time to follow up with a prospect. This personalized video is best shared via text or email.

Spice It Up with Interactive Video: Add a button that allows your contact to call or email you directly from the video if they’re interested in discussing the product further.

Script #5: Overcoming Objections

“Hi [Prospect Name]! I’ve been thinking about what you said the last time we talked about [product name]. I totally know how you feel. I had similar concerns the first time I was introduced to [product name]. But I found that it really helped me...

  • [Benefit 1]
  • [Benefit 2]
  • [Benefit 3]

I think it can help you too. The holidays can be stressful, and now is the perfect time to focus on your health, which is why I’m reaching out. I’ll call you later to see if you’re interested in learning more about [product name]--and to see what you’ve been up to this season! Talk to you soon!”

Use When: You have a product who has expressed hesitation about trying a particular wellness product.

Spice It Up with Interactive Video: Use interactive buttons to link to other testimonials for greater impact!

Good luck with your holiday sales this season! We can’t wait to hear how you’re using video to improve your selling strategy!
