We’re pleased to announce that Verb is GDPR compliant! If you’re not familiar with European data-gathering guidelines, no worries—we’ve broken it down to help you learn exactly what that means and how it affects you.

What is GDPR?

General Data Protection Regulation is the new law governing privacy and data for companies doing business in Europe that was implemented in May of 2018. Basically, it was put into place to protect the private data of European citizens. We firmly believe in the importance of protecting the privacy of our customers and, as a global company, maintaining compliance with this framework of guidelines is of utmost importance to us.

What is Personal Data?

According to the European Commission, personal data is, “any information that relates to an identified or identifiable living individual. Different pieces of information, which collected together can lead to the identification of a particular person, also constitute personal data.” (Source: https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/law-topic/data-protection/reform/what-personal-data_en)

How Does GDPR Affect Me?

All companies, regardless of size, are obligated to adhere to GDPR. That means providing consumers with easier access to their own data, as well as making sure that it’s collected legally and kept safe. Companies who are not compliant stand to potentially suffer strong consequences and fines. Unfortunately, those consequences and their associated costs can be passed on to negatively affect the consumer, which is why we’ve worked hard to quickly ensure our own compliance.
